'Dapple' rugs and stools

It’s easy to walk right past things when we are preoccupied in our own minds. Sometimes it takes a time out to break the busy habitual patterns of our minds and tune into present moment experience. Walking my Belle Dog at Kirroughtree Forest Visitors Centre one fine day the sun and the wind and the trees were playing a dance with the amber peaty water in the burn. It was so beautiful and perfect inspiration for a design to adorn a few items I wanted to create. I took the idea of one dapple of light and what that might look like and carved into the surface to define each colour area and mimic the texture of moving water. Lovely sunny, warm, earthy colours! I developed the imagery on to three dapples, then five dapples. All these pieces sold on quickly or were work in lieu for upholstering stools and chair made by Shed Therapy in Dalbeattie.
