Scotland’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is internationally recognised as a world class environment for people and nature. I am very proud to have achieved The Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Certification Mark and to be working with them, and others, towards improving sustainability and better outcomes in our gloriously rural southwest Scotland.
Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere joins 700 other biospheres around the world. The global Biosphere network encourages sharing of experiences and knowledge to help us take better care of our surroundings locally, nationally and internationally.
